Base Ten Math Flip Books!

During February and March, we have been covering numbers and operations in base ten.  I put together 7 flip books to help the kids master the standards.  We differentiated by using 1, 2, or 3 dice and using 1, 2, and 3 digit numbers.  The books are easy to assemble and the kids enjoyed them!

The packet is on teachers pay teachers

This flip book packet includes 7 math flip books covering base ten common core standards including representing numbers to 120, showing a number in 2 different ways, comparing numbers using greater than, less than, and equal signs, adding ten more or ten less to a number, adding and subtracting multiples of ten, and adding 2 digit numbers. These flip books can be used as a quick write to demonstrate understanding of the skill, extra practice to master the skill, or for students that finish early. Ideas for differentiating are included. First Grade I can common core statements are written on each flip book. I added a few blank flip books.

Dr. Seuss Week!

Last week, the children had so much fun celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday.  We started out the week making The Cat in the Hat and writing our spelling words on the hat.  We ended the week with a Dr. Seuss read-a-thon.  The children rotated to all 6 first grade classrooms to hear a different Seuss book read.  Friday, we read The Lorax and completed a Truffula Forest Map of the different story elements. We also made cute little Lorax's and wrote how we would save the trees.
