We took a break these past two weeks from our usual Daily 5 reading and formed our "Bear Reading Clubs." These clubs consist of a few kids reading and talking about the 2 or 3 books they have chosen. The books they chose needed to be either fiction books or non-fiction books about bears. Day one we discussed how a reading club works. After that each set of partners wrote and signed a partnership contract and also looked through their books and wrote down their expectations and ideas about the books and their club.

For the remainder of the week the children read and wrote notes about their books.

This week the kids finished up on their notes and completed a poster that displayed what they learned from their books. They presented their posters to their classmates.
